How Do I Set International Settings in Mac OS X?
In Mac OS X you can set the language for the menus and applications to the language of your choice.
- Open System Preferences
- Double-click on /Applicatons/System Preferences
- Start the International application
- Double-click on the International application (with the U.N. flag icon)
- Select your preferred language
- In the Languages list click on your language of choice and drag it to the top of the list.
- Order the languages in the order you prefer to see them appear. The top most languages will show first if encodings are available for them and the lower most languages will appear as alternate choices if encodings aren't available for your top choices.
- If your language does not appear in the list you might be able to include it by editing the list under the Edit button.
- If your language is not found among the Edit list, then it has not been included in OS X yet. It is very likely your language will be included in future versions of the OS.
- Close the International application
- Close the Internation application (and Preferences) by clicking on Close button (on the upper left-hand corner appearing with an 'x' in it).
- Log out and log back in.
- Log out by selecting Apple Menu>Log out
- Log back in and you will see the menus and applications show the language you've selected.
