How do I allocate more memory for Stata in Mac OS X?

The default amount of memory available for Stata is just over 1 megabyte. To increase the memory:

  1. Open the Stata application

  2. Select Prefs   ->   General Preferences   ->   General

  3. Change the KB (kilobytes) value in the Set data memory to field
    e.g. change this to 5000 to increase the memory to 5 megabytes

  4. Click OK

  5. Restart Stata
