How can I add an application or a document to the Dock?
Adding applications or documents to the Dock is done using similar methods. However, there is a small difference in where
an application's icon is allowed to be placed on the Dock.
To add an application to the Dock:
Use the Finder
program to go to the "Applications" folder
Drag the application's icon to the Dock
Make sure to place the icon somewhere between the Finder icon, and the line that separates the "Trash" from other Applications.
If done otherwise, the icon will be repelled from the Dock.
To add a document to the Dock:
Use the Finder
application to go to the document's folder (usually under Home:Documents)
Drag the document's icon to the Dock
Make sure to place the icon somewhere between the line that separates the "Trash" from other Applications.
If done otherwise, the icon will be repelled from the Dock.
You can also add an application by Control-clicking (right-clicking) on its icon, while running, and choosing
the "Keep in Dock" option.
